The Frangipani Tree

The Frangipani Tree is an intimate, elegant beach sanctuary with 9 exquisitely furnished suites in 4 villas. It is located on the West end of Thalpe Bay on a long stretch of secluded and picturesque beach.

The Frangipani Tree is sun, sand, trees, culinary and spiritual indulgences.

Each of the suites has stunning ocean views and is appointed with modern and elegant custom furnishings, four-poster beds with beautiful linen, covered terraces and verandahs with sun beds and private dining tables. An impeccable personal service caters to every whim of the guests.

The Frangipani Tree is an improbable juxtaposition of simplicity and luxury overlooking the turquoise Indian Ocean.

In season, sea turtles return to The Frangipani Tree beach to lay eggs.

The Frangipani Tree has an elegant sitting lounge furnished with custom designed sofas, day beds, DVD player, movie projector and a collection of DVDs and books.

An elegant dining table which seats 20 guests is set in the covered terrace to accomodate family and friends sharing The Franghipani Tree.

Each of the bedrooms in all the villas are highly private and may also be rented seperately.

The Frangipani Tree offers a fresh and vibrant menu of local fresh seafood and produce for which its sister boutique hotel, The Fort Printers, has received fabulous reviews.

The chefs plan the menu daily in accordance with guest preference and availability of fresh seafood, produce and ingredients, and feature grilled seafood, Sri Lankan curries and Mediterranean specialities.

The chef is regularly at the local fish market before the fishing boats come in to source fresh yellow fin tuna or catch of the day. fresh crabs and lobsters are supplied by the local fishermen of Koggala Lake and Unawatuna.

Breakfast usually includes fresh tropical fruits, fresh fruit juices, cereals, organic eggs, fresh curds and home made breads or any other special requests such as frittatas, hot cakes or Sri Lankan hoppers.

Lunch may include fresh salads, grilled yellow fin tuna or open faced sandwiches.

Dinner is generally a lavish 3 or 4 course affair with specialities such as grilled lobster and prawns, seared tuna or delicious Sri Lankan specialities such as crab curry.
