This magnificently restored 300-year-old Dutch house located in the centre of the Galle Fort, was recently converted into a boutique villa. Modern luxury has been very discretely incorporated whilst respectfully maintaining much of its originality, such as the pillars and archways, high lime-washed ceilings and exposed wooden beams. The old worn but surprisingly still in very good condition black and white chequered floor tiles is what attracts the eye the moment you step in.
The high-walled courtyard ensures perfect solitude, privacy and relaxation in contrast to the high level of activity just outside.
Meals on the terrace, cooling dips in the large pool or sundowners under the frangipani-shaded ambalama (Summer Hut) and watch the sunset in all its glory.
THINGS TO ENJOY: Walks around the Fort & ramparts, the architectural styles of the old hotels and buildings. Browse through the shops for locally made handcrafts, textiles, trendy clothes, gems and antiques. Try out local and international cuisine the many cafes and restaurants offer.
