Chandolu is a beautifully and stylishly renovated villa overlooking the ramparts of Galle’s 17th century Dutch Fort – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport will take approximately 4 hours - or take the Air Taxi and fly to Koggala, which is a 15-minute drive to Galle Fort.
Behind the refined, yet anonymous, entrance of Chandolu is one of the Fort’s most contemporary villas and a true private haven. Stepping into the villa, you are greeted to a bright and open entrance hall with the original black and white chequered tiles mimicking the style of the early 17th century Portuguese homes and a splendid specimen of a antique wooden ‘rearing horse’ on display. The living room with its painted white floors, soaring ceilings and ample seating, also features a writing table and selection of good books. Make use of the fully equipped kitchen with all commodities where you could prepare your own meals or opt for a chef that can be called in to prepare you exquisite Sri Lankan or Western dishes. Enjoy your own private plunge pool at the far end of the villa and a comfortable ground floor, air-conditioned, bedroom with its comfortable four poster bed, en-suite bathroom with his and her sinks, and Victorian bath. The neighboring room is a comfy TV lounge where you can relax to good selection of DVD movies. The TV lounge also can be converted into a third bedroom, airconditioned and with its own en-suite bathroom and shower.
The wooden stairway with its wrought iron railings takes you to the master suite. Well-lit, air-conditioned, with a large four-poster bed, the master suite includes a comfortable lounge which opens out onto balcony and sun terrace looking down onto the plunge pool and out over the ramparts and the ocean. The sun terrace is the perfect place for cocktails whilst watching the sun set over the ramparts which is an experience not to be missed. The master suite at the Chandolu also features a very modern and chic wooden floored, en-suite bathroom with shower.
The staff are well-trained and always at your service and are able to prepare breakfast and other simple meals at your request.
