Coco Tangalla is a 6-bedroomed black and white colonial villa, which reopened its doors after refurbishments in 2011 .
Book by the room or as a whole house, it is well suited for couples and families. With a variety of wildlife, cultural and heritage destinations to visit in the area, it is situated very conveniently to explore…or just use us as a stop-over to or from Galle, Yala or elsewhere.
The main house has four bedrooms and an adjoining annexe with an additional two bedrooms. The interiors are stylishly decorated with a mixture of modern furniture and period antiques, local art, with infusions of colour and exotic fabrics. The living and dining areas introduce some art deco features. All to create warm and informal rooms to relax.
The infinity edge swimming pool is located just a few steps below the main house overlooking the Indian Ocean. The large amabalama sits alongside the house, with spectacular sea views, and is ideal for lounging on huge cushions, being served meals or retreating with a good book.
Almost equadistant to Galle and its World Heritage Site, Yala Reserve and its highest concentration of leopards in the world, and Udawalawe for its worldly Elephants, as well as observing Whales and Turtles nearby. We are well placed to enjoy a number of Sri Lanka’s main attractions.
There is a small Library of books and some CD’s, and a dock for an i-pod. WIFI is also available in most common areas. Part of the ambalama is dedicated as a place to lounge and gaze at the Indian Ocean. you may also enjoy the selection of boardgames available in the house.
Massages can be arranged by appointment, offering a variety of Massage Therapies and Wellness Techniques by our favoured specialists. Treatments include Ayurvedic massage with healing oils, body scrubs with locally-grown herbs to Thai massage for your body and Indian massage for your head. All techniques can be blended or not to suit your personal needs.
An array of luxury health and wellness techniques can be provided to include aromatherapy, Swedish massage for that sports’ injury, deep tissue treatment, point therapy, facials and reiki – all blended into a unique experience designed to heal and rebalance the body, soothe sore muscles, release tension and improve circulation.
There are six air-conditioned bedrooms furnished with twin or double beds. The bedrooms all differ in design and colours giving a sense of individuality, and the feeling of staying in a home. Hanging wardrobes, bedside tables and lights, chairs and luggage space are in all the rooms. Each rooms’ amenities do not differ significantly, any price difference is mainly determined by size.
In the main house are four bedrooms, combining oriental and bright colours in silks and local fabrics, artwork and stylish furnishings. All have ensuite bathrooms with shower, as well as a basin, and WC. One of these rooms has Twin Beds.
Adjacent to the main house are two more bedrooms. These can interconnect by a short passageway, making them an ideal combination for a family.
The larger bedroom has its own private verandah overlooking the sea, with a large bench seat covered in cushions and ideal for lounging during the day, with a table and chairs for private dining. There is a large ensuite bathroom with rain-shower, as well as a double-basin and WC. The other bedroom has Twin Beds, connecting into a large partly outdoor bathroom with shower, as well as a double- basin, and WC.
We do not generally recommend swimming in the sea on the adjacent small beach, but it is possible on one beach within walking distance and there are numerous good beaches nearby.
At Coco Tangalla, seafood can be a staple part of your stay by the Indian Ocean. The focus is on fresh and local ingredients bought daily, and menus include a variety of western and asian styles and flavours.
Lunches are typically two courses from a selection of soups, pasta, vegetarian dishes, or all varieties of seafood and other salads, followed by a delicious dessert. Dinner is three-course fare, which might include crab, mullet, searfish, lobster or tuna all cooked by interesting fusion recipes, or a variety of beef, chicken and vegetable curries, and some house favourites for dessert.
Breakfast (included in all room rates) will typically offer subtle blends of fruit juices according to the season, eggs almost anyhow, pancakes, cereals and some galvanising Sri Lankan starts to the day….all with a selection of Sri Lanka’s renowned teas, or coffee.
