If you looking for the perfect luxury holiday villa to rent in one of the most outstanding environments in Sri Lanka then look no further...

Satori is a newly refurbished Dutch colonial villa, stylishly laid out over 2.5 acres of terraced landscaped gardens and lawns, tranquil ponds with stunning panoramic views and a large infinity pool.

Situated in the jungle yet only moments from the sparkling Indian Ocean, you can experience the best of both worlds: with some of Sri Lanka’s finest beaches moments away without the noise of the busy coastal highway.

This 6,500 sq ft luxury villa nestles high on a hill, 65m above sea level with breathtaking views of the jungle, valleys, paddy fields and ocean beyond. Satori promises to spoil you in the privacy of your own surroundings with exotic and healthy cuisine, a warm and gracious service, not forgetting the troupes of monkeys & vibrant birds. Daily yoga, massages, meditation and Ayurvedic treatments are all available on request.

This is a holiday experience with a difference, as we donate 10% of the rental rate (not our profits) to local causes administered by the regional head monk. So you will not only have one of Sri Lanka’s finest villas at your disposal but you will also be contributing and changing the destiny of many of our local children and their families.

For those in need of a break from busy lives and demanding schedules and for those who prefer exclusivity, this exceptional property offers the perfect hideaway. Satori is the ideal environment for any combination of families, friends, groups or honeymooners. With its tropical ambience, rare and magical setting in an abundance of nature, we offer you a truly unforgettable experience.

For those who like a little more adventure you can take a trip by Tuk Tuk locally to the world heritage historic Galle Fort, its fruit, fish and spice markets, Buddhist temples and of course miles upon miles of stunning palm fringed beaches. Further beyond we can organise outstanding trips and tours to suit all tastes. Sri Lanka is a truly beautiful country, a 'must' to visit and as yet is unspoilt by mass tourism.

Unfortunately we could not stay at Satori this time but I just wanted to say that Hugh has been absolutely fantastic in helping us find an alternative villa. It's not often you find someone who is willing to help when they know they won't get the sale. He recommended other options and gave us great advice. Satori Villa is definitely on our list for the next trip and I highly recommend it because you don't find this kind of service often these days!

Satori was just the most magical place to spend a week of our holiday. We were an extended family group of three generations and it really did have something for all of us. Up in the hills above Unawatuna it is peaceful and serene with just the sounds of the forest outside and the occasional monkey leaping through the trees. Days drifted away by the pool side or down by the beach while evenings were spent on the verandah with a cold Lion beer watching the fireflies buzzing around.
One of the many highlights of Satori was the food. The chef is superb and it was very hard to drag ourselves away from evenings there. It was by a long way the best food we ate in Sri Lanka and we enjoyed talking to the chef to agree the menu for the next few days.
All of the staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. They were wonderful with the children and helped us arrange everything from a visit to the tea plantation to a canoe trip on the Ginganga. It was amazingly easy to get to Galle and Unawatuna and small touches like being lent a local sim by Thusitha so we could call a trusted tuk tuk driver to take us home made all the difference.
I can't recommend Satori enough - if you are looking for a relaxing holiday with everything taken care of by the lovely team then it's definitely the right place to go.

We stayed 4 nights at the Villa Satori with our good friends, total of 8 with 4 adults and 4 kids. It was absolutely excellent in every way. The staff is terrific and take care of every need. The chef makes both western and Sri Lankan food based on your requests and the villa manager helps you with day trips and transportation. The villa itself is beautiful with a scenic jungle overlook. You can enjoy the pool while relaxing outside or take a tuktuk to the beach about 10 min away. It comes with 2 great dogs that keep you company. We had such a good time that we are already thinking of when we can come back.

Villa Satori truly lived up to all expectations, providing the location for a once in a lifetime family reunion. Set in several acres of jungle paradise, not only is it beautiful, but the wildlife it offers is unsurpassed. After a few days we thought nothing of watching monkeys swinging through the trees while we enjoyed breakfast on the terrace. The birdlife is incredible and we all enjoyed watching the fruit bats and fireflies at night. Also be prepared to see the odd monitor lizard to two!

However, it is the incredibly warm and helpful staff that have really given Satori such a special place in our hearts. Headed up by the lovely Mr Thusita, a team of five, (including a five star chef) ensured every whim was catered for and arranged. The villa was kept tidy and spotless and menus and excursion plans were tailored to meet our needs. No mean feat as we were a party of ten, spanning three generations! It is no exaggeration that tears were shed (on both sides!) when we left.

Highlights of the trip definitely include releasing baby turtles back into the sea at the nearby turtle conservation hatchery. Bike and canoe rides through Idle Tours were a wonderful way to take in the breathtaking scenery, village life and more wildlife. And of course there is plenty of good shopping to be done in the highly picturesque old fortified town of Galle Forte, which is just ten minutes away by tuk tuk (the children's new preferred method of travel!). Oh, and a visit to the tea plantation and spice garden on Kagolla Lake are a must too!

All in all, a magical holiday which will be remembered for years to come.

We just returned from a wonderful week at Sartori Villa. The villa staff looked after us very well including bookng restaurants, tuk tuks, bike tours and massages. The chef provided wonderful meals based on Sri Lankan specialities and we also enjoyed meals out in Galle. The villa has a lovely position with fantastic views over the lush forest and watching the monkeys from the pool was great for the children. The beach is only 10 mins away in a tuk tuk which meant we could enjoy the lovely beaches and then come back to enjoy the villa in the afternoons.

We had a 4 nights in Satori this July, in a family group of 4 adults and 4 kids (aged 18 months to 13 years), all of whom have visited Sri Lanka before - and all of whom were very impressed!

It is a beautifully designed villa in a stunning location. Hugh was friendly and efficient in managing the booking, and Thusitha is such a lovely manager. With the new expressway you may as well get down here straight from the airport. The kids loved the pool, the dogs and getting autos down to Galle and the beaches. We had a huge troupe of macaques visit, and some rarer leaf monkeys too. The chef is really talented. Well worth getting the kerosene lamps lit at night, and doing some night swimming with the frogs... They did a barbecue for us with coconut husks on our last day (though it was a public holiday and they could easily have asked us to eat out). A really relaxing experience in one of the best locations in Sri Lanka.
