South Point Villa
A light, modern villa on one of Sri Lanka's most pretty fishing bays. Colourful fish swim within the protected reef of coral and crustaceans which provides a snorkellers' paradise, but also territory for the intriguing stilt fishermen, who jealously guard their posts passed down through families. The fish are so beautiful and plentiful that it is said the cook calls out your order to the surrounding sea.
Picture windows facing the ocean give an uninterrupted view of magnificent sunsets from your armchair or four-poster bed. The large sitting room is charmingly furnished with antique jackwood pieces, and teak doors and floors lead from the living areas onto the verandah. The floor here is constructed from old monastery wood.
The housekeeper and cook will indulge your every whim and are fantastic with children, should you want a quiet moment.
Boogie boards, sandcastles, 35x15ft pool and a 'writer’s nook' to draft that promised novel, will keep families entertained. The landscaped gardens are enclosed by a perimeter wall ensuring privacy, and safety for younger children.
The real highlight for the children is the nightly and morning hatch and release of baby turtles just outside the villa. The villa can accommodate up to 6 adults, but is equally cozy for a couple seeking quiet in the tranquil tropics.
Koggala Lake has a temple, bird sanctuary and prawn farm, all of which may be visited by river boat Highs - Lobster on tap and a master BBQ chef
- Private beach and calm sea for swimming, sunning and snorkeling November – April
- Very accommodating of children, from nannies to children's play equipment and local excursions and private dance shows
- The Housekeeping staff speaks good English and so does the Butler, so communication is not a problem
You may eat what you like here, but the wise choose seafood. Dine like kings on the cook's wide repertoire of seafood recipes – Sri Lankan, Indonesian or Chinese.
The kitchen is very large and guests can roam as they choose. If you would like to learn to prepare some Sri Lankan dishes or just feel like being master chef for the day, feel free.

Bedroom Details
The villa is a wonderful blend of contemporary design and antique furnishings. Ideal for a family or group travelling together, but a couple would not feel lost in these surroundings. Two rooms look out onto the ocean and the third overlooks the pool. The pool is tucked around the corner so noisy, splashing children do not disturb a peaceful rest on the beach deck.
There are 2 spacious and stylish bedrooms, each with a king size four-poster bed with muslin drapes taking centre stage on the highly polished Burma teak or Asian oak floors. There is a walk-in dressing area with ample storage in antique wardrobes, complimenting the pettakama (box) and bed. Large shower rooms are en-suite.
The third bedroom is the largest and can act as a double, twin or quad for children and comprises two four-poster double beds , with more room for extra beds. There is an en-suite shower room.
A TV/DVD system is neatly hidden in the sitting area, and there is a further TV/DVD in each bedroom. Each bedroom has an en-suite shower room with colourful glass block walls. The master bedroom vanity unit has a stunning Kumbuk wood finish whilst the other en-suites have blue granite vanity units and walls of white marble. Scented bowls of floating araliya flowers add that extra detail. The bedrooms all lead off the central living room, which has telephone and internet connection, and are complete with mini bar. The villa has one cot and more can be sourced with notice.

Villa Notes
For a change of scenery, visit one of Galle's many fine restaurants just a short tuk-tuk ride away.
Southpoint is extremely accommodating of families and couples and will provide activities and entertainment in accordance with your wishes. From Boogie boarding, fishing, lake boat rides, tea plantations, or private cultural shows. A river trip on Koggala Lake to visit the temple and bird sanctuary or... fishing on the lake. Boogie boards for keen surfers. The waves are mild but fun - but do watch the undertow in the summer months Snorkeling near the beautiful reef - equipment is available. Photographers could not find a more dramatic subject than the stilt fishermen at sunset. The "writer’s nook" is set amongst shady trees in the beach garden, a perfect setting to give inspiration to the budding novelist or for those home thoughts from abroad. Galle's historic ramparts, maritime museums and antique jewellery shops provide a great day out. A nearby estate produces rubber, cinnamon and is the world's sole supplier of pure white tea. Many varieties of teas may be sampled in the estate shop, owned by the father of Southpoint’s proprietor. The fish market in Galle is a captivating sight but be prepared for an early start to watch the fun. As the boats moor up and weigh their night's catch of giant tuna, the local restaurant chefs vie with each other for the best.
