History of Marylebone Cricket Club ( MCC)
Marylebone Cricket Club was started in 1787 as a governing body for Cricket in England, Scotland and Wales. MCC was holding the responsibility for the Laws of Cricket then which is now done by the ICC. Lord’s Cricket Ground is considered as the home ground for MCC. The Club was organizing the International Cricket Test matches for the England team.

MCC champion county match – 2020
This year the MCC champion county match will be held in Sri Lanka. MCC to play Essex at Galle International Cricket Stadium between 24th March – 27th March 2020. MCC’s first overseas president and Sri Lankan former cricket captain Mr.Kumar Sangakkara will captain MCC in the match.
Many members of MCC are planning and scheduled to visit Galle this March targeting the champion county match. Further, this will help to raise Sri Lanka’s profile internationally. Especially since the Galle International Cricket Stadium is located in a tourist hub in the South of Sri Lanka and many tourist destinations such as Thalpe, Unawatuna, Magalle and Galle fort are located in very close proximity.
